LIVE: Marilyn McCoo & Billy Davis Jr. uploaded 8/7/10
Welcome to the Sound of Destiny Internet radio, your hosts for today’s program are Danny Peralta and pastor Charley Gallegos. Today our in studio guests are (a drum roll please) Marilyn McCoo and Billy Davis Jr. (formally two of the original members of the 5th Dimension). Marilyn and Billy share some exciting memories. Following the short interview we take the broadcast to the auditorium for the live music portion of the show.
The show opens with “Up Up and Away”, followed by an interview, some great praise and worship music and ends with my favorite “You don’t have to be a star”. All of the music on this program is performed by Marilyn and Billy or the group “Solders for the second coming”. Every member of the singing group and band has outstanding voices. You will hear harmony and singing talent that second to none. Steven Chavez said “this is one of the best groups I have heard in a long time”.

Welcome to the Sound of Destiny Internet radio, your hosts for today’s program are Eric Flores, Pastor Charley Gallegos, and Nick Lomeli. Today our in studio guest is Billy Davis Jr. (formally an original member of the 5th Dimension). During the interview Billy shares about how the 5th Dimension came together, their Grammy’s, and split of the group and the success of Marilyn and Billy’s duet. This is an amazing story that comes together like a fine string of “Pearls”.
Terrific story and great music, a must hear show!
The interview alone is worth listening to but to take it to the next level we added some memorable tunes: Monday Monday, by 5th Dimension; It’s Going to Take a Miracle, by Deniece Williams; God Bless our Love, by Gene Chandler; Heart of Worship, You Alone, I Hope We Get to Love In Time, Nothing Can Stop Me, Up Up and Away, all by Marilyn McCoo and Billy Davis Jr.; and the show ends with their last Grammy “You Don’t Have to be A Star” by Marilyn McCoo and Billy Davis Jr.

Perfiles de la Musica 4 uploaded 7/25/10
In the 1960's the popular TV series I Dream of Jennie, with Larry Hagman and Barbara Eden. It was a hit in several languages around the World, thanks to the "dubbing" or simulcast technology, applied by the Hollywood studios.
In 1985 a Mexican group by the name of "Grupo Tucan" recorded "Cumbia Rap Mi Bella Genio" with lyrics in Spanish and English. The song was a hit until the mid 1990's in the American Radio dial and the dials of the Americas.
Bilingual singers do not only come in English and Spanish, but also in English and Native languages from around the world.
From the Islands of Hawaii, in the 1970's the native singer Don Ho placed his hit Tinny Bubbles in the Radio spectrum the entire Americas and Europe.
In the1960's, the Chilean singer Lucho Gatica, recorded a popular song named "Vaya con Dios" made a hit by several groups before him.
The difference was Lucho Gatica, singing in English and Spanish. Uncommon for a Chilean singer and never known before in his native country, in fact "Vaya con Dios" in English and Spanish was not a hit there, but Gatica vindicated himself in the American Radio dial. It was big. See you on the Radio. P.S. Stop by the Talk

Thank you for joining us for another show by Miguel "Michael" titled “Profiles of Music – Perfiles de la Musica” and features songs without boundaries. A show with songs that have made the cross over to the mainstream N. American radio airwaves and sometimes becoming big hits in English and Spanish. The dials of the world were tuned-in to music.
This is show #3 and features: Bing Crosby, who recorded several song in Spanish, but only one became very popular in the American Radio dial... Spanish radios that is... "Cuando Calienta el Sol, circa the 1940's and 1950's.
Even do in two different countries... never met in person in 1959 Mexican singer Pedro Infante recorded "No me Platiques".... At the same time Nat King Cole, wanting to break into the Latino Market, recorded several songs in Spanish. But "No me Platiques" a technical mix with Pedro Infante, was very popular in the Americas.
Frank Sinatra, never recorded anything in Spanish, not to our knowledge. Thanks to the new technology, in the 1990's Julio Iglesias and Frank Sinatra were featured on a compact disk, singing together... Vientos de Veranos, "The Summer Winds" became popular for a while in the American radio dial.
Profiles in music,.. Perfiles de la musica, with Michael Morales... "Nos vemos en la Radio.
